Brief
Table Tennis History
Thought to have
started in
England
in the 1880s as a parlor or after dinner game, based on lawn tennis, it
developed into a competitive sport in the early 20th century & grew rapidly
into the worldwide, Olympic sport it is today.
Club History
The Westbury Table
Tennis Club was formed in 1994, by former International Jimmy Lowe, with the aim
of developing the table tennis skills of young players.
The club is affiliated to the West Wiltshire Table Tennis League, &
Wiltshire
County
Table Tennis Association. The club is part of Premier Club – the English
Table Tennis Association national program for club development. The club has
attained "Clubmark" accreditation which covers standards in playing program, management, duty of care &
ethics, coaching & facilities.
